Vicki Sowry | AUS | Dome Lab Producer For the past two decades, Vicki has established and delivered professional programs for artists and filmmakers in partnership with industry. She has worked at Metro Screen, the Australian Film Commission, ABC Television and the Media Resource Centre. Paul Bourke | AUS | Tutor Paul is Associate Research Professor in Visualisation and Director of the Western Australian Supercomputer Program (WASP). Previous to this, he was Visualisation Research Fellow at the Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing, Swinburne University of Technology, where he developed the Mirrordome system for fulldome, a ground-breaking portable system that has revolutionized fulldome internationally due to its affordability and robustness. In his current role, he has developed the i-Dome system, which is installed at iCinema, University of NSW, Wollongong Planetarium, Questacon/Scitech, CSIRO Brisbane and Rio Tinto. Warik Lawrance | AUS | Tutor Warik has worked on television, film and fulldome productions for over a decade. His expertise in camera operation, computer-generated animation, design and compositing has contributed substantially to the success of the Melbourne Planetarium’s fulldome productions. He was one of three designers who produced the planetarium’s award-winning Black Holes: Journey into the Unknown, which pushed forward the cinematic boundaries of fulldome production and was awarded ‘Best Visual and Story Narrative’ at the 2007 Domefest. His most recent production, Our Living Climate, is a technically challenging combination of live action, computer-generated animation, data visualisation and 3D-fly throughs to tell the story of the history of the earth’s atmosphere. |

Peter Morse | AUS | Tutor Peter has over 20 years experience in video, photographic and film production, audio design and music, 3D visualisation, computer programming and online content development and delivery. He has a wide-ranging creative practice and has exhibited digital media works around Australia and internationally. He is noted for working with equal facility in the sciences and the arts, taking a transdisciplinary approach to reconciling diverse disciplines. Ben Shedd | USA | Tutor Ben is an Academy Award-winning filmmaker who moves easily between different forms of media storytelling as a producer, writer, director and editor. His films have been widely shown and have received over 40 international awards. Ben taught for 10 years at both the University of Southern California’s acclaimed School of Cinema Television and the California Institute of the Arts’ College of Design. In 1989, he was awarded an Alden B. Dow Creativity Fellowship to research large-screen filmmaking, resulting in the ground-breaking articles collectively titled Exploding The Frame. During 1989-90, he was the PNM Endowed Chair Professor of Media Arts in the School of Fine Arts at the University of New Mexico and, from 1997-2003, he was a Senior Research Scholar and Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at Princeton University, where he developed design criteria for large-screen systems in science education contexts. Jonathan Strawn | USA | Tutor A graduate of the University of New Mexico’s Cinematic Arts program, Jonathan Strawn started working in Full Dome at the LodeStar Astronomy Center as a live presenter. He started working with David Beining on DomeFest 2007, and soon joined him at the University of New Mexico ARTS Lab. Jonathan has assisted David in producing DomeFest 2007, 2008 & 2009, as well as contributing title for DomeFest 2008. With Hue Walker Jonthan was a designer & animator of the film Tales of the Maya Skies, working with 3D, 2D & live action video in the Full Dome film. Jonathan is currently the technical director at ARTS Lab & a research assistant on an OpenGL Interactive Full Dome & AnySurface research project. |
